Academics for equity is an informal platform launched by a group of young and middle-career researchers from leading universities and research institutions.

The platform is guided by the motto of enhancing equity in academics and research. The platform members commonly observed that many potential students do not pursue further studies or advance in academic research due to a lack of guidance and essential support. Take an example of any leading university. In all those universities the gap between students who come from marginalised sections (particularly Dalits, Adivasi, and students coming from extremely other backward castes) and others in terms of their training in subjects and in several other ways is substantially wider. Many of the students are even first-generation learners who somehow get access to university education. But, due to the absence of proper guidance, mentorship and training, they secure very low grades or even fail in their main papers. Consequently, they lack in their career.

This platform provides guidance, mentorship to universities and budding research scholars from poor and marginalised communities through remedial lectures, workshops, conferences, and hands-on training on working with large data required for the research. All the services provided by this platform are free of cost.
